First Organic Shopping Trip

Happy Monday....

Well so I was sick all weekend.  I didn't want to move but I really wanted to go shopping to look for organic foods.  So I decided I would at least try and go look.  So I drove over an hour to Sioux Falls to look around.  I started my trip started at Target.  I really didn't feel good and I was FREEZing so I really didn't look for anything organic while I was there.  (I did look at the baby clothes. I mean how could I resist.) After that I got lost in Sioux Falls.  Thank god I had my Garmen with me.  I found this Coop organic food store.  I walked in and had no idea what I was looking at.  I did go online and watched a tour of the store but it didn't do justice.  Take a look http://www.coopnaturalfoods.com/  So I found someone to help me.  Everyone was so nice.  The lady walked me around and helped me find what I was looking for.  (I really had no idea what I was looking for.)  So here is what I got-
Green Beans .41 lbs $1.88
Russet Potatoes 2.2 lbs $2.62
Yogurt x4 $1.15 each
Eggs $3.95
Tomatoes 1.23 lbs $5.28 (This was kind of a waste of money.  The tomatoes were hard) (Out of season)
Baby Carrots $1.79 (The bag was smaller than a normal bag of carrots)
Foulds Pasta Spaghetti $.76 (Small meal for two people. With a salad it would be the perfect size)
Wheat Free Spaghetti $3.19 (gluten free)
Bulk Parmesan Cheese $2.01
Chicken Broth $3.99
Bananas 1.77lbs $2.28
Cinnamon $1.70 (By far the best smelling Cinnamon I have ever smelled.  I will let you know how it tastes)
Honey Roasted Peanut Butter .2lbs $.50
Corn Meal $.52
Elbow Paste .68lbs $1.90
Long Grain Rice .71 lbs $1.41
Fruit Leather $.69 x 4
Apple Rings $1.28
Fruit Snacks $.99 x4

So my total was $53.73.  It was very much worth all the money.  If you don't bring your own bags for bulk items in you will spend $.10 per bag you use. I wasn't aware of that when I went but next time I will bring my own bags.

The best part about the shopping trip was the peanut butter.  You grind your own peanut butter right there.  You can decide how much you want.  I am really excited to try it on toast.

Kevin and I tired one the strawberry fruit snacks when I got home and they were really good.  They didn't have the waxy feeling most fruit snacks have.  Later on we tried a fruit leather.  It wasn't that good.  It really didn't have a sweet taste like I thought it would.  I will have to try the other flavors and let you know how they taste.

Also I got the box of fruit I order on Thursday.  It really wasn't worth the money.  There were 8 assorted apples, 6 pears, 3 oranges, 4 Clementine looking things, 3 kiwi, and a grape fruit.   Everything looked really good.  I had to leave the pears out of a couple of days so they could ripen up.

Oh yah...Go Steelers.....I almost had a heart attack in the fourth quarter when the Jets were charging down the field.
